Cheesecake Diaries Archive: Petting Zoo

A collection of works by graphic artist Jasper Goodall's “Poster Girl” featured at London's Electric Blue Gallery in 2009.

"He explores the notion of fantasy versus reality, with a play on sexuality and fetishism." "Goodall says he drew inspiration from pop artist Allen Jones, but added his own twist to explore popular subjects of fetishism, for example, using cartoon characters like Bambi and Mickey Mouse to illustrate “fallen innocence” as a Goodall spin on the “sexualized nun”."

Goodall is an illustrator, photographer and fashion designer. His work is amazing. Bold and very sexy. You can check out jaspergoodall.com for all the pieces from "Poster Girl".

Femme Fatale

Bad ass nails designed by Haus of Lacquer! She is hands down (pun intended) one of the most creative nail artists I have come by and I always look forward to seeing what fresh ideas she's going to come up with next. Her designs are so inspired, and of course eye catching. I've tweeted to her that she should design MINX or sell pre-designed nails for peepz that can't make it all the way out to Crown the Queens in Vancouver, Canada!! Super talented and I can totally see her designs translating to dope packaging or even accessories. Love seeing creative women doing what they love!! They keep me motivated.

Check out more designs from Haus of Lacquer here.
And make sure to follow @HausofLacquer and @crowntheQUEENS on twitter!!

Additional eye candy here from Crown the Queens!

How fkn HOT is that QUEENS TSHIRT - I am NOT a graphic t-shirt girl but I love, love, love it! I need one ASAP.

Just have to throw in how much I love the cheesecake vibe of their look book. ;-)

Wicked Wisdom

Image via fashionindie

This was me this past weekend. Minus the fabulous clothes, shoes and accessories or "I'm too sexy..." body language, of course. I did however manage to make it TO the dentists office wearing new apricot lip gloss, winged eyeliner, a pompadour and ponytail, a crisp white linen button down, cuffed jeans and vintage leather loafers....I should have taken a photo!! But I digress....All the beautifying and styling did absolutely nothing to prepare me for my impacted wisdom tooth extraction aka mother effing hell.

It all started with an ear ache which then turned into a toothache which them turned into a whole faceache and me popping every type of OTC pain relief med and smearing whole dollops of Orajel on my teefs. If you are not familiar with the pain of a wisdom tooth busting out of your gums its like lighting and thunder inside of ur gums. Very angry, apocalyptic, lightning and thunder. Your teeth feel as if a boulder has been leaning on them for about two thousand years, just a little achy and cramped. And your head feels like its ready to explode from the pressure of just one too many teeth at the party. Its intense to say the least and I actually thought about taking the tooth out myself in the dark of the night, jacked up on Excedrin, with the wrench I keep in my bathroom to turn on the faucet (a whole nother story), a la 127 Hours. It was a desperate moment for me. The following day I made an appointment with the dentist, hoped for the best and expected the worse.

So when Dr. Kravets came back with my xrays and said "Its bad." I wasn't at all shocked. "Your wisdom tooth has to come out. Its impacted and pushing all your other bottom teeth causing pressure. Can you take it out now???" he asked. LOL Well I couldn't mostly because Warrior Dash was that weekend and I've been looking forward to that for months and all the arrangements had already been made. He gave me some antibiotics, I made my appointment for 10 days later, and went on my merry way. 24 HOURS LATER.....I changed my appointment for that Friday (the next available time). Needless to say I could not wait 10 days!

Is been 6 days since my extraction and I am still recovering. First of all getting an impacted tooth removed is gross. The actual extractions, even though I was terrified, was a piece of CAKE! When it was finally over I profusely thanked the doc. The recovery, however, sucks and you're paranoid about getting dry sockets or and infection. You can't really eat or speak too much. The not speaking part is not so bad...the not eating part is torture! No drinking though straws, no drinking alcohol, no spiting, no spicy foods, so on and so forth. Even the Percocet I looked forward to getting me through the first few days was a non factor when I realized you had to take them with FOOD, which I was baaarely able to consume. The hardest part had to be when my nurse/grandmother decided to make Hot Dogs and onions on Saturday -_- Really, Mama Lucy?! HOT DOGS!? FRESHLY MADE ONIONS!? It smelled sooo delicious. Maybe more delicious than usual just cuz I couldn't have any. When Sunday rolled around and she made spare ribs I was OVER the Lipton soup and ready to indulge in those ribs even if I had to grind them up with a rock! LOL My daily schedule consisted of icing my face, taking Motrin, drinking water, eating whatever I could that was liquid to semi-solid, watching copious amounts of television, and engaging in multiple Words with Friends games - when I wasn't sleeping of course.

I also just have to share how lucky I am for my grandmother, Mama Lucy. And just to clarify my above comments, she is not a real nurse. Lol She does think she is a medical expert, though, and most of her medical advice starts with "They say that..." or "Dijo Dr. Oz que..." and ends with "Its the best thing for your system!" She was just awesome beyond words this weekend and did everything in her power, as always, to make me comfortable. She wiped my tears, made me laugh(also very painful by the way Lol), cooked for me, and annoyed me just enough for good measure. I am so blessed to have her in my life and every minute I spend with her just fills me up to the brim with all sorts of happy, shiny, feelings!

Anyhow so the last two weeks and lack of posts have been due to a wicked wisdom tooth and now that I am not using up all my Jedi mind tricks to get me through the pain I'm looking forward to getting back a more reasonably scheduled posting program.

Thanks for visiting even when I had nothing to share =D

P.S. The model in the photo is Crystal Renn, the editorial was shot by Tom Ford, and it was featured in French Vogue. ;-)

The MP3 Experiments aka Flash Mobs

Flash mobs are when a group of people pick a predetermined place and time to spontaneously (to other people who aren't participating) bust out in some kinda crazy pre-planned activity like a dance orrrrr taking off your pants on the subway. LOL These have become increasingly popular because they are an effective way to grab a large group of peoples attention and apparently they're also very fun. Target recently had a flash mob perform at one of their store locations. A group of dancers led by former American Idol contestant, Todrick Hall, broke out into a choreographed dance to Beyonce's, "Till the End of Time", in celebration of her new album, 4, which Target is currently carrying an exclusive, deluxe, version of. Improv Everywhere, the New York city based group responsible for the No Pants Subway Ride in which 5,000+ New Yorkers participated in this winter, has added a twist by using a download-able MP3 to direct these flash mobs in real time! Their website says that each event is usually 45 minutes long, and they do it once a year in New York. For more info and pics click here. You can just image how disruptive this could potentially be lol Aside from the MP3 Experiments the group has tons of "missions" on their website.

SO! Tell me would you be down to participate in one of these random activities?? LOL

"Eyes Wide Shut"

I previously posted this "Eyes Wide Shut" look and deemed it ridiculous but it makes for a cool effect in this black and white pic from Gaga's tumblr page, amenfashion.tumblr.com

Hennessy VS Cognac x KAWS

Im not a fan of Hennessy but I would love to own one of these limited edition bottles designed by New York artist, KAWS. They are numbered and only available at select distributors. The bottle is branded with all of KAWS signature details.

I also learned that Hennessy supports America for the Arts and has partnered with the organization on the Artistry GIVES campaign which supports the advancement of arts education and provides resources for emerging artists around the country.

"Become a fan of Hennessy Artistry GIVES. Hennessy will donate $1 to Americans for the Arts for every new fan beginning on September 15th with a goal of donating $25,000. Click the “like” button here to play your part!"

Made to Fit

This is a great gift for a seamstress, tailor, designer, or someone with a love for fashion. The bangle which is a replica of a measuring tape was designed by Monserat De Lucca. Being in the fashion industry I can tell you that this is one item that is just as important as a pen and a pad. Image via trendhunter

Nostalgia

When I was still living with my mother at one point she had a tall mahogany armoire/bureau in her bedroom that she had inherited from my great grandmother, with whom she was extremely close. Atop said bureau was a collection of perfumes. Tons of them! All in beautiful bottles. Some were delicate and romantic looking and others were more bold and sexy. I ALWAYSSSSS tried to sneak some whenever I could and whenever she asked me if I had used any I did what any politician today would do, DENY, DENY, DENY. Lol! Anyway this beautiful bottle of Shalimar made me think of that. I had a moment of nostalgia.

P.S. In 1925 when Guerlain's Shalimar debuted it was in a Baccarat crystal flacon and since then its had quite a few reincarnations. More here.

M.A.C. VIVA GLAM 2012

M.A.C. announced today that Nicki Minaj will serve as the 2012 VIVA GLAM spokesperson. Given the success of her collaboration with M.A.C. on her Pink For Friday lipstick last Fall, Nicki seems like a perfect fit for the role. I'm excited to see the campaign! A portion of the proceeds will go to the M.A.C AIDS FUND which supports men, women and children affected by AIDS/HIV globally. Read more here.

This is one my favorite shots from Nicki's spread for Elle magazine this spring. I love this subdued look on her. And Im a fan of the black hair.

WTF: Home Edition

This place has rendered me speechless. Its so sexy! For more info click here.

Testing, testing, 1,2,3.....

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend and survived the heat! I recently became the owner of an HTC Sensation! I was way overdue for an upgrade and knew for sure I wanted something with an Android OS. I'm familiar with Android and enjoy that its so user friendly and that there are tons of great, FREE, apps.

I just downloaded an app that allows me to blog from my phone and this is my test post. ;)

I'm a Mobsta' for Lobsta

Its a crappy picture but you get the point. I was trying to eat it, not have a photoshoot! Lol

A co-worker recommended for me to check out a spot in L.E.S. called Luke's Lobster. They are famed for their affordable, delicious and fresh Lobster Rolls straight from Maine! It was on my to do list for weeeeks and I had been craving seafood so I made it a point to check it out last week. ALLL week long I looked forward to Friday (also Date Day with the Beau)to get myself some lobster rolls. I found out they mobilize a Nauti Truck everyday to different locales throughout the city to serve the masses. As tempted as I was to run to a truck I wanted to share the experience of the first bite with my boyfriend so I waited.

Friday finally arrived! I had my pre-ordered HP7 tickets in hand (Yes I am a PotterHead)and to sweeten the day even further the Nauti Truck was going to be close to the theater!

So Im in my amazing seats waiting for the trailers to start, checking tweets and THE TRUCK SOLD OUT OF FOOD!!!! Isn't that insane. Nothing was going to stop me from getting my roll so I headed down the the 7th street location (b/w 1st ave and Ave A).

Ahhh it was so worth the wait! We ordered the Taste of Maine for two and feasted. It was deeeelish. The lobster rolls and shrimp rolls were my favorite.

If you're into seafood you should check them out! Lukeslobster.com

This is my second favorite spread that Beyonce has done so far on her media blitz to promote her album "4"....BUT ITS MY FAVORITE COVER!!!! She looks as ferocious as she does delicate, a balance that not many can achieve - and she owns it. Absolutely alluring and entrancing with every swing of her hips and flip of that mane! LOVE THE MAKEUP ON THE COLOR SHOTS!!

P.S. I need this photo retoucher!
